40 Biology videos (Over 7 hours!) covering topics such as water, membranes, molecules, photosynthesis, and many more topics in biology.  These topics cover human, plant, and animal biology.  These videos have been vetting and approved by the tutors of the Tacoma Community College Writing and Tutoring Center.

Blue Histology – Epithelia and Glands

Blue Histology has information on human anatomy (including Epithelia and Glands, Connective Tissues, Nervous Tissue, Urinary System, Reproductive System, Accessory Digestive Glands, and much more), images, original source material + additional links and sources, and several quizzes to test your knowledge.  Overall, this website contains a ton of information about anatomy and human biology, but expect a less than stellar user interface.

Virtual Body

Learn about the human body with interactive activities and audio-visually presented information.  Virtual Body provides information and interactive activities to help students learn about the human body, including specifically the brain, skeleton, heart, and digestive tract.  Each of the 4 body sections includes a narrated ‘tour’ of that area of the human body, a visual diagram where you can hover over parts and see the name and definition, and an activity to practice putting together all the parts.

Blue Histology

Blue Histology provides microscopic images and detailed information about various tissues.  Make sure that your pop-up windows and javascript are enabled in your browser so you can use all the functions on the site.  Each page has a table of contents with topics, lab guides and images that you will find on the page. This is followed by an Additional Resources section containing links to other related resources on the site.  Images that are tagged with a yellow dog ear in their upper right corner give an alternate image when you click on them. If you find a small “e” icon in the text, it will link to an electron microscopic picture of the features mentioned in the text.

MDCT – Gray’s Anatomy Online Powerpoint Lectures

MDCT’s Gray’s Anatomy Online site provides PowerPoint’s teaching the various parts of the human body as listed. You are able to click on any of the body areas or systems listed and download the actual PowerPoint which gives information and images to teach you. There are also other resources on the MDCT site which you can find in the quick links side menu or in the main top menu.

Histology Zoomer

Images and information for the study of microscopic structures of tissues.  The Histology Zoomer site, created by Yakima Valley Community College, provides tutorials on the epithelium, muscles, connective tissue, nervous tissue, and endocrine tissue. The site includes image libraries for study and identification practice. The Dichotomous key for identifying basic tissue types is useful. The site also provides histology quizzes that students can use to test their knowledge.

Learn Genetics

Learn about scientific processes of the human body through interactive games and information in the fields of genetics, biology, ecology, health, and other science & math.  Learn.Genetics from the Genetic Science Learning Center of The University of Utah, is an awesome collection of interactive learning modules for many science topics from understanding DNA to the affects of drugs on the brain.  The collection includes game-like interactive animations that explain scientific processes, slides with audio, and informational pages you can read while interacting with slides that model what you are learning.  This is a great site to explore if you are taking any kind of science course and need some more visual and entertaining material to study with!

Games to learn and study anatomy. Anatomy arcade provides various games to help learn the anatomy of the body system. It is well categorized and has some very effective programs for memorizing in an interactive and more entertaining way.
